This is an ongoing project to provide updates on new materials and programs at
Choctaw County Public Library. Members can discuss books they are reading,
make suggestions, request a purchase, and many other things at The Bookworm.

No more AVL cards for home access!
We are using a technology called Geolocation that can determine if you are located within the state of Alabama. If you are in Alabama, then you are automatically logged in to use the AVL resources. It's that simple!

in the top right corner of the AVL site to see how Geolocation works for you.
If you are living out of state (in college, etc.) or will be traveling out of state and need to use AVL, you will still need to come by the library to get a card!

The Alabama Virtual Library provides all students, teachers, and citizens of the State of Alabama with online access to essential library and information resources. It is primarily a group of online databases that have magazine, journal, and newspaper articles for research. Through the AVL, an equitable core of information sources are available to every student and citizen in Alabama, raising the level of excellence in schools and communities across the state. --AVL website

Registration for the Reading Competition Begins May 16th in Butler, May 17th in Silas, and May 17th in Gilbertown!
Story Hours begin on Friday, June 8 in Butler (2:00pm) and on Tuesday, June 12 in Silas (1:30pm) and Gilbertown (3:00pm).

Here are some authors with some of their book titles: Alison Groggon- The Naming (The Pellinor Series) Silvana De Mari- The Last Dragon Mercedes Lackey-Novels of Valdemar (The library has/had : By The Sword) Mercedes Lackey & James Mallory - The Outstretched Shadow( Book 1 of The Obsidian Trilogy) Cecilia Dart-Thornton- The Bitterbynde books Patricia H. Rushford- Jennie McGrady Mystery books John Flanagan- Ranger's Apprentice books Victoria Holmes- Rider in the Dark Mary Reeves Bell-Passport To Danger books Wanda Luttrell- Sarah's Journey books All of these books are excellent.

Hi Ashwey!!!
I may have mentioned some of these names to you before, but just in case, here are some good authors and/or book titles: Carolyn Haines--she writes the "Bones" series of books (NOT as in the show, that's a different author) Garden Spells and The Sugar Queen by Sarah Addison Allen Twisted Creek and The Secrets of Rosa Lee by Jodi Thomas (apparently the only two NON bodice-rippers she's written!) And of course the Adriana Trigianni books. If I'm not mistaken, all of the above are southern writers as well! Hope all is well! love and miss you. C
